Liuli is a valuable art for two reasons. 1st, the ancient method of Liuli has special materials, and its production process is quite complex. It takes dozens of processes to complete, the process of coming from the fire and going into the water. Some of the process takes 10 to 20 days, and mainly depends on manual work. It is quite difficult to grasp each link, and the difficulty in grasping the heat can be said to “half of skill and half of luck”. The rate of finished product is only 70%. What's more, traditional Liuli can't be recycled. That is to say, once there is a very small problem, the efforts of many people & dozen days work will be wasted immediately. 2nd, Liuli is not only a material, but also a cultural product. More importantly, there are no two identical Liuli products.
- The production process is lengthy: from conception, design, sculpture, firing, fine trimming and polishing to the completion of the work, it takes 47 delicate and cumbersome manual processes to complete.
- Handcraft: workers must master the technology before they can operate. Each process has its own variable factors, and needs to be tested repeatedly in the process. The colors of the works are not the same, and the production is extremely difficult.
3.One mold, one product: one mold can only burn one work, and can not be used twice. Large and complex works even need to be opened and fired many times to complete. The low success rate makes the works more precious.
- High temperature firing: the selected raw materials are melted into various colored crystal glasses at a high temperature of more than 1400 ℃, and after many times of selection and cleaning, they are placed in the mold according to the proportion of materials used in the work, and strictlyrise and fall curves are set. The furnace temperature must be controlled within 1000 ℃± 5 ℃. The firing process takes more than 15 days, making crystal raw materials accurate to every detailplace. Only in this way can we ensure that the works are delicate, ingenious, three-dimensional, real, streamlined, elegant and clear.
